Basketball Game Preview: Riverside Chargers vs. Fullerton Warriors

Riverside hasn't had much luck against Fullerton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Riverside Chargers will be home for the holidays to greet the Fullerton Warriors at 6:00 p.m.

Riverside is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They were beaten by Archangels Catholic 59-14.

Grace Mahony was Riverside's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Ashley Weltruski took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Meanwhile, Fullerton can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Central Valley as Fullerton made off with a 56-32 win. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Riverside better keep an eye on Jaci Maxfield. She was instrumental in Fullerton's win, going 8 of 15 on her way to 19 points along with five assists and five steals. Maxfield is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgia Bridger, who posted eight points and 14 rebounds.

Fullerton was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Fullerton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Riverside has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Fullerton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
