Riverdale Ridge had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Grandview Wolves 10-8. The Ravens are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 21 straight dating back to last season.
Riverdale Ridge let Peyton Saenz and Brynn Garduno run wild. Saenz went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Garduno went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jerzi McArthur, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Riverdale Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grandview struck out nine times.
