Baseball Recap: Massac County Find Success

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Massac County had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Red Bud Musketeers by a score of 8-3.

Wyatt Jeffords and Alex Hall did most of the damage at the plate: Jeffords went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Hall got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Jeffords has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Max Elliott, who went 1-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Massac County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got Massac County back to even at 14-14. As for Red Bud, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-11.

Looking ahead, Massac County will head out on the road to challenge Carterville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. Red Bud does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
