Baseball Recap: Dodge County Has No Trouble Against Northeast

Dodge County won the last time they faced Northeast and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Indians were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Raiders. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Gabe Yeomans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karson Jones, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Dodge County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-12 when he doesn't). Brycen Pruett was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Dodge County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dodge County's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Northeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Dodge County will take on Telfair County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Northeast, they will head out to take on Twiggs County at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cobras have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.85 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
