Basketball Game Preview: Galeton Tigers vs. Port Allegany Gators

Galeton is 0-10 against Port Allegany since January of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Galeton Tigers will challenge the Port Allegany Gators at 6:00 p.m.

Galeton is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 41st straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were dealt a 67-15 defeat at the hands of Coudersport. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Falcons are ranked 297th).

Lynlee Basile was Galeton's leading scorer, having posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Port Allegany didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Oswayo Valley on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 44-39 victory.

Galeton better focus on containing Ella Moses and Brynn Evens as the pair were huge in Port Allegany's win. Moses almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists, while Evens posted 13 points along with seven boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Moses a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Errick, who put up nine points.

Port Allegany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests.

Port Allegany's record is now 15-4. As for Galeton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-20.

Galeton was taken down by Port Allegany 51-13 when the teams last played back in January. Can Galeton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
