Recap: New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds vs. Cedar Mountain Cougars
On Saturday, The New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds faced the Cedar Mountain Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. New Ulm Cathedral took a hard 32-14 fall against Cedar Mountain. New Ulm Cathedral was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cedar Mountain apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September.
Cedar Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Branndon Pendelton led the charge by picking up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in a rushing scores. Pendelton was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 66 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Schiller, who threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes.
This is the second loss in a row for New Ulm Cathedral and nudges their season record down to 7-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Cedar Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
New Ulm Cathedral does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cedar Mountain will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Red Rock Central. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Minnesota (Red Rock Central is ranked 21st, while Cedar Mountain is ranked 14th).
