Softball Game Preview: DeSoto Dragons vs. Fox Warriors

DeSoto is 0-4 against Fox since September of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Dragons will square off against the Warriors at 3:00 p.m.

DeSoto fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Saxony Lutheran on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 4-3.

Fox came out on top against Oakville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Warriors walked away with a 6-3 win over the Tigers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Avery McKinnon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Maddie Baldridge was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Fox's record now sits at 10-7. As for DeSoto, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

DeSoto couldn't quite finish off Fox in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
