Football Game Preview: Humboldt Cubs vs. Central Heights Vikings

The Humboldt Cubs will head out on the road to face off against the Central Heights Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Humboldt will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

On Friday, Humboldt made easy work of West Franklin and carried off a 40-20 win. The Cubs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Gavin Gunderman had a dynamite game, rushing for 103 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 86 yards and a pair of TDs. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble, making eight total tackles, and defending two passes. Mason Sterling got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Central Heights came up short against Eureka on Friday, falling 46-20. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Humboldt's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Central Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Humboldt against Central Heights in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 40-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
