Softball Recap: Northwest Whitfield Bruins vs. LaFayette Ramblers
Northwest Whitfield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the LaFayette Ramblers, falling 10-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ramblers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Tuesday.
As for LaFayette, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by eight runs or more this season.
For LaFayette's part, Marlie Day looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Day has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Emma Parker and Bralie Blevins did most of the damage at the plate: Parker went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Blevins went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Blevins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma House, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Northwest Whitfield will face off against rival Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, LaFayette is set to square off against their familiar foe Adairsville at 5:55 p.m. on Monday.
