Football Recap: Akins Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Akins fell victim to Westlake and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Chaparrals and fell 66-0. The Eagles have struggled against the Chaparrals recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Westlake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Knox, who threw for 88 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. What's more, Knox racked up 165.2 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

Akins' defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Westlake, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Akins and Westlake will both be playing Austin the next time they take the field. The Chaparrals will host the Maroons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
