Basketball Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

After flying high against Canyon Hills last Monday, Lincoln came back down to earth. The Lincoln Hornets fell 46-36 to the Francis Parker Lancers on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Lancers are ranked 22nd).

When it comes to explaining why Lincoln lost, don't look at Asia Darcuiel. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points. Darcuiel's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Anijah Stowers, who put up four points.

Francis Parker found their leader in freshman Isabella Riddle, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Riddle a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Mendez, who scored 14 points and five boards.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 16-7. As for Francis Parker, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Lincoln didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Clairemont on the 7th. As for Francis Parker, they have also already played their next contest, a 47-37 win against Bishop's on the 7th.
