Basketball Recap: El Rancho Sets Scoring Season-High Against Poly

El Rancho scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 69-63 to the Poly Bears. The loss was the Dons' first of the season.

El Rancho's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samantha Gutierrez, who posted 24 points. The matchup was Gutierrez's third in a row with at least 18 points. Emma Gonzalez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Poly found their leader in sophomore Abby Folsom, who put up 25 points. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Murray, who scored 14 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, El Rancho fell to 3-1. As for Poly, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coincidentally, El Rancho and Poly will both be playing Arcadia the next time they take the court. The Dons will host the Apaches at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bears will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
