Baseball Recap: Lewis Cass Kings vs. Culver Academies Eagles
Lewis Cass had lost six straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 9-10 to make it seven. They fell 8-5 to the Culver Academies Eagles. The Kings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2016.
As for Culver Academies, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games.
For Culver Academies' part, Max Grundberg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grundberg was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Max Grube was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Cole Meiser was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
