Basketball Recap: Arleta Piles Up the Points Against Monroe

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arleta). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Monroe Vikings 84-7. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 25 points or more this season.

Arleta had a senior duo take command as Victoria Eufracio went 7 for 8 on her way to 15 points in addition to six steals and five boards and Aakira Smith almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. With that strong performance, Eufracio is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Rivera, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 14 points.

Arleta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Arleta is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Arleta wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-30 win against Taft on the 14th. As for Monroe, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Poly at 4:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
