Softball Recap: Hawkinsville Comes Up Short

Hawkinsville fell victim to Schley County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 11-0. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Rheaghan Powers spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and nine unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Hawkinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Schley County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Hawkinsville will face off against Treutlen at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Schley County, they will challenge Peach County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
