Soccer Game Preview: Mendota vs. Coalinga

The Mendota Aztecs are taking a road trip to face off against the Coalinga Horned Toads at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mendota will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Mendota's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Dos Palos. Give Mendota's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

They hit Dos Palos with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Yenifer Morales (4), Haicell Escobar (2), Sofia Hamasaki, and Griselda Ayala.

Meanwhile, Coalinga has been on a difficult stretch since their win on December 6. They fell just short of Avenal by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Coalinga's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10-4. As for Mendota, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3-2.

Mendota beat Coalinga by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2025, winning 2-1. Do the Aztecs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Horned Toads turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
