Baseball Recap: Lincoln County Gets the Win

Lincoln County took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Winfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Generals 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 27th.

The team relied heavily on Isaac Byrd, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Lincoln County is 9-1 when Byrd posts two or more runs, but 8-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Graysen Ellis, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Lincoln County and bumps their season record up to 17-15. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Winfield, their loss dropped their record down to 23-6.

Lincoln County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Winfield, they will welcome South Charleston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
