Soccer Game Preview: Whittier vs. La Serna

Whittier is 0-10 against La Serna since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lancers. Whittier has given up an average of 3.2 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Whittier fell victim to El Rancho and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to the Dons. While losing is never fun, Whittier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 805th, while El Rancho are ranked 316th).

Meanwhile, La Serna and California finished up their contest with a 3-3 draw on Tuesday.

La Serna's draw makes their record 6-10-3 this season. As for Whittier, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8-1.

Whittier suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to La Serna when the teams last played back in January of 2025. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
