Basketball Recap: Don Lugo Comes Up Short

Don Lugo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 61-27 defeat at the hands of the Diamond Ranch Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Conquistadores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 872nd, while the Panthers are ranked 287th).

Despite the loss, Don Lugo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sienna Robles almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. London Salmon was another key player, putting up ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Diamond Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jazlyn Wint, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards. Another player making a difference was Amanda Uyeda, who posted ten points and six steals.

Don Lugo now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Diamond Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Don Lugo will head out to take on Chaffey at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Diamond Ranch, they will welcome Montclair at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Montclair has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Diamond Ranch will come in with three straight wins.
