Softball Recap: Gross Catholic Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Skutt Catholic, Gross Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Plattsmouth Blue Devils. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Alexis Skradski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lauren Kosse was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Sofia Gomez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Gross Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Plattsmouth, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-20.

Looking ahead, Gross Catholic will face off against Blair at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. Plattsmouth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
