Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Grace Johnson and Jaiden Alexander Lead Mesa Verde to Victory

Mesa Verde hadn't done well against Golden Sierra recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mesa Verde Mavericks secured a 37-32 W over the Golden Sierra Grizzlies. This was payback for the Mavericks, who suffered a 52-39 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Mesa Verde to victory were Jaiden Alexander and Grace Johnson. Alexander dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 rebounds, while Johnson posted 14 points along with six boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in boards.

Mesa Verde's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Golden Sierra, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Mesa Verde will welcome Lindhurst at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lindhurst will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mesa Verde surely won't give up without a fight. Golden Sierra has already played their next game (against San Juan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
