Recap: St. Thomas Academy Cadets vs. Jefferson Jaguars
The St. Thomas Academy Cadets had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their match on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 43-14 victory over Jefferson. Given St. Thomas Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Jefferson is ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Thomas Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savion Hart, who rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Hart is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Dobbs, who picked up 188 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The win makes it two in a row for St. Thomas Academy and bumps their season record up to 8-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
St. Thomas Academy will take on Owatonna at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Owatonna is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
