Baseball Game Preview: Cornerstone Prep Academy vs. Praise Academy Lions

Cornerstone Prep Academy will square off against the Praise Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Cornerstone Prep Academy has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Cornerstone Prep Academy is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Pinecrest Academy, falling 12-2.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Praise Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Oakwood Christian 9-8. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cap Cheshire made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Cheshire was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other batting news, Praise Academy let Zac Cheshire and Aden Brown run wild. Cheshire scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3, while Brown went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Chase Hayward, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cornerstone Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Praise Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Cornerstone Prep Academy's way against Praise Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, as Cornerstone Prep Academy made off with a 21-8 win.
