Football Game Preview: Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles vs. Derby Panthers + How To Watch

Bishop Carroll hasn't had much luck against Derby recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Golden Eagles will take on the Panthers. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Bishop Carroll took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 24-0 margin over East. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Derby had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed past the Mavericks to the tune of 70-28. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Mavericks are ranked 58th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Carroll better focus on containing Blade Clark and Arieus Finley as the pair were huge in Derby's win. Clark rushed for 173 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries, while Finley rushed for 206 yards and three scores on only 11 carries.

Derby's run defense was locked in: Maize South could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Derby's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Bishop Carroll, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Bishop Carroll took a serious blow against Derby when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 51-7. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Golden Eagles were down 35-0.
