Recap: Immanuel Eagles vs. Bakersfield Christian Eagles
It was a good run, but the Immanuel Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-35 walloping at the hands of Bakersfield Christian. While losing is never fun, Immanuel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Eagles are ranked 163rd).
Bakersfield Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava King, who scored eight points along with 19 rebounds. King hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Bila, who scored ten points along with six assists and six steals.
Immanuel's loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Bakersfield Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Immanuel and the Golden Bears will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Sierra Pacific's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Bakersfield Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wolf Pack at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
