Basketball Game Preview: Nazareth Academy vs. West Catholic Burrs

Nazareth Academy will take on the West Catholic Burrs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Nazareth Academy is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Archbishop Carroll on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Nazareth Academy had to suffer through a 64-30 loss at the hands of Archbishop Carroll. The game marked Nazareth Academy's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, West Catholic blew past Central, posting a 58-29 victory.

Nazareth Academy better focus on containing Nyla Coleman and Ny'La Haynesworth as the pair were huge in West Catholic's win. Coleman posted 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Haynesworth scored nine points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Haynesworth a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Milan Trusty, who put up eight points and three steals.

West Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only racked up two assists.

West Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Nazareth Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Nazareth Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against West Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 63-57 win.
