Basketball Recap: Sophia Morrison's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brockway over Ridgway

Brockway was the 59-45 winner over Ridgway when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Brockway Rovers fell to the Ridgway Elker 58-54. While the Rovers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Elker 23-15 in the first quarter.

Brockway's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Morrison, who posted 20 points and three steals. Rheanna Spinda was another key player, going 6 of 11 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points.

Even though they lost, Brockway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Brockway's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Ridgway, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 5-11.

Coming up, Brockway will head out to take on East Forest at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ridgway, they will host Brookville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
