Baseball Recap: Brunswick Dragons vs. Morse Shipbuilders
Brunswick had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-9 to make it five. They came up short against the Morse Shipbuilders, falling 10-4. The Dragons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Shipbuilders from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
Brunswick saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Aceto, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Morse, they now have a winning record of 6-5. The result was nothing new for the Shipbuilders, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Morse's side, Christian Hallowell looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hallowell is becoming a predictor of the Shipbuilders' success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Eli Sommers was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lukas Hinton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Coming up, Brunswick will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Blue at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for Morse, they have already played their next game, a 12-1 victory against Lincoln Academy on the 19th.
