Soccer Game Preview: Buena vs. Pacifica

The Buena Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Pacifica Tritons at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Buena has three straight victories, Pacifica has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Buena had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Santa Barbara on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over the Dons. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Buena's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Santa Barbara are ranked 698th).

Meanwhile, Pacifica fell victim to Oxnard and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellowjackets. That's two games in a row now that Pacifica have lost by exactly two goals.

Pacifica's loss dropped their record down to 2-8-3. As for Buena, their win bumped their record up to 10-8-4.
