Volleyball Recap: Manzano Monarchs vs. La Cueva Bears
If Manzano was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Capital on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monarchs came up short against the La Cueva Bears on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Monarchs were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-16, 25-15.
Tenille Coleman paced Manzano's offense, picking up nine kills. Coleman got some help from Alyssa Martinez and her 12 assists.
Leading La Cueva to victory were Embrey Eisele and Chayse McGuire. Eisele had nine digs and three aces, while McGuire had four digs and two aces. That's the most aces McGuire has posted over her last six matches. Carmen Jones also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Manzano's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for La Cueva, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Manzano has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Eldorado on the 24th. As for La Cueva, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Sandia on the 23rd.
