Basketball Recap: Brockway Gets the Win

Ridgway came into Tuesday's contest looking for another win against Brockway, but Sophia Schmader wouldn't allow it. The Brockway Rovers enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over the Ridgway Elker on Tuesday thanks in part to Schmader, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 26 points in addition to six boards and six steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023.

The team also got some help courtesy of Rheanna Spinda, who posted ten points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

Brockway's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Ridgway, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-5.

Brockway wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-38 defeat against DuBois on the 11th. As for Ridgway, they will challenge DuBois Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. DuBois Central Catholic will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Ridgway surely won't give up without a fight.
