Lutheran gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Liberty Lancers an 8-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their 25th in a row dating back to last season.
The result came thanks to Annie Schroeder's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addie Brightman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Glenn, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted a batting average of .045.
Lutheran has already played their next match, a 20-1 victory against Castle View on the 19th. As for Liberty, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-6 win against Lewis-Palmer on the 16th.
