Volleyball Recap: Rio Grande Comes Up Short

Rio Grande extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 3-0 to the Manzano Monarchs. The Ravens were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Monarchs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Rio Grande's offense was headlined by Leslie Nevarez and Sophia Lopez, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Natalia Martinez and her 11 assists.

As for Manzano, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against Rio Grande since September 9, 2022.

Ava Renner had a dynamite game, getting 24 digs.

Rio Grande wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Del Norte on the 2nd. As for Manzano, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Cibola on the 2nd.
