Basketball Recap: Hanford West Piles Up the Points Against Lindsay

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hanford West). They blew past the Lindsay Cardinals 71-20 on Tuesday. The Huskies pushed the score to 59-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals had no chance of recovering from.

Hanford West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Silva, who went 8 for 12 on her way to 18 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Silva is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyelar Smith, who posted seven points along with 13 boards and five steals.

The win made it two in a row for Hanford West and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Lindsay, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hanford West will host Tulare Union at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hanford West has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lindsay, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Coalinga at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Coalinga is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season.
