Basketball Game Preview: Encinal Jets vs. Berkeley Yellowjackets

The Encinal Jets will head out to challenge the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Encinal is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Alameda on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Encinal took a blow against Alameda, falling 67-18. The Jets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-12.

Meanwhile, Berkeley lost 59-35 to Miramonte on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 984th, while the Matadors are ranked 150th).

Encinal's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Berkeley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-16.

Everything came up roses for Encinal against Berkeley in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the team secured a 64-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Encinal since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
