Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Whitfield Bruins vs. Ridgeland Panthers

The Northwest Whitfield Bruins will take on the Ridgeland Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Whitfield will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Northwest Whitfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Gilmer a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Bruins not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10, 2024.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Ridgeland and LaFayette meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Ridgeland fell 7-2 to LaFayette.

Bryson Duke was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Northwest Whitfield pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgeland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Northwest Whitfield couldn't quite finish off Ridgeland in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 and fell 6-4. Can Northwest Whitfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
