Softball Recap: Denver North Extends Winning Streak to Five

Denver North took a 24-run defeat the last time they faced off against Green Mountain, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rams on Saturday, sneaking past 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on five straight dating back to last season.

The team relied heavily on Elina Gutierrez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Xavia Escobedo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Denver North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Denver North's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Green Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Denver North wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-7 win against The Academy on the 16th. As for Green Mountain, they will square off against Lakewood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
