Softball Game Preview: Centennial Knights vs. Cambridge Bears

Centennial is 0-10 against Cambridge since September of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. This will be Centennial's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Centennial's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Central Gwinnett with a sharp 14-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Maria Mrus made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia De Oliveira was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ella Jacobs was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Cambridge is still undefeated this season after their game against Lambert on Monday, but Lambert came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Bears narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Longhorns 3-1.

Cambridge's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Centennial, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
