Baseball Recap: Central Gwinnett Takes a Loss

Central Gwinnett extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-18 in the process. They came up short against the Dacula Falcons, falling 12-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent defeat being a 15-0 loss on Wednesday.

As for Dacula, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Dacula's part, Jared Glenn made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Glenn has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Dacula's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Reiston Durham and Mj Allen did most of the damage at the plate: Durham got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Allen went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Durham is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 11 games he's played. Reid Dzikowski was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Central Gwinnett has already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Rockdale County on the 14th. As for Dacula, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-0 defeat against Winder-Barrow on the 12th.
