Baseball Recap: Belfast Find Success

Belfast never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against the Winslow Black Raiders by a score of 5-0. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Black Raiders: they've now won eight in a row.

Not much got past Aidan Howard, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Winslow off the board. Howard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Barrett, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tucker Marden, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Belfast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winslow only posted a batting average of .048.

Belfast's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Winslow, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Belfast will take on Lincoln Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Winslow, they will face off against Erskine Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
