Preview: Castro Valley Trojans vs. Alameda Hornets
Castro Valley and Alameda are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Castro Valley Trojans will be playing at home against the Alameda Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Alameda took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Castro Valley, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, Castro Valley strolled past Mt. Eden with points to spare, taking the game 46-32. The win was just what Castro Valley needed coming off of a 75-14 loss in their prior game.
Naomi Chew was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Chew is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Qiomy Espinoza, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Alameda lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 71-27 loss at the hands of Bishop O'Dowd. Alameda was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-11.
Castro Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Alameda, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.
Castro Valley ended up a good deal behind Alameda in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 78-60. Can Castro Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
