Softball Recap: Northgate Triumphs

Northgate won against Dutchtown last Thursday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Vikings didn't even let the Langston Hughes Panthers on the board, marking the Vikings' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.

Trinity Hargrett was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Kellie Nalin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Northgate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Langston Hughes only posted an OBP of .111.

Northgate's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Langston Hughes, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northgate will square off against Northside at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 11.7 runs per game this season. As for Langston Hughes, they will take on Dutchtown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.38 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
