Basketball Recap: Merced Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

Atwater typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Merced proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Atwater Falcons by a score of 58-51. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Merced got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Thomas out in front who went 7-for-13 en route to 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Matsuo, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Merced's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Atwater, their loss dropped their record down to 21-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Merced will venture away from home to face off against Golden Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Golden Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Atwater, they will head out to challenge Buhach Colony at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Atwater is facing Buhach Colony at the right time seeing as Buhach Colony is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
