Football Recap: Elgin's Rushing Dominance Continues

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Upper Scioto Valley, Elgin was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 28-6 margin over the Perry Commodores. The victory continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Commodores: they've now won five in a row.

Brennon Luikart was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 161 yards and three TDs. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Luikart was just one part of a punishing run game: Elgin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Elgin now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Perry, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Elgin will head out to face off against Hardin Northern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets are facing the Polar Bears at the right time seeing as the Polar Bears are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Perry, they will be playing at home against Ridgedale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
