Baseball Recap: Callaway Triumphs

Callaway won the last time they faced Handley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Callaway Cavaliers walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Handley Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

Slade Hunt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Taylor, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Junior Reeves was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Callaway's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Handley, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.

Callaway didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-5 victory against Lamar County on the 20th. As for Handley, they have also already played their next contest, a 22-2 win against Anniston on the 20th.
