Football Recap: Cam Brooks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Great Mills over Westlake + How To Watch

Great Mills fought the good fight in their overtime game against Westlake on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 30-24 to the Wolverines. The Hornets were up 17-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cam Brooks, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one touchdown. Isaac Deleon was in the mix too, providing Great Mills with one score.

Even if they lost, Great Mills' defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Zhaykahrii Plater and Kaden Moye, who racked up five sacks between them. Moye is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Great Mills received some extra help from Deleon, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

A big part of Westlake's win came down to the chemistry between Devin Echard and his top target Mekhi Prather. Echard rushed for 40 yards and a pair of TDs while Prather gained 67 total yards and a touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Great Mills fell to 2-1. As for Westlake, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Great Mills wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 26-16 loss against Calvert on the 26th. As for Westlake, they have also already played their next matchup, a 47-7 victory against Thomas Stone on the 26th.
