Softball Recap: Longmont Trojans vs. Valley Vikings

Longmont gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Valley Vikings with a sharp 14-4 win. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sophie Magley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Alex McGregor was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Skylar Becker was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Longmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only managed four hits.

Longmont didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-5 defeat against Northridge on the 19th. As for Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-6 loss against Timnath on the 16th.
