Everything went their way against the Columbia Tigers as they made off with a 41-21 victory. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

St. Augustine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Somourian Wingo led the charge by picking up 151 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground. With that strong performance, Wingo is now averaging an impressive 101.4 receiving yards per game. Durell Preston was another key back, rushing for 104 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.
St. Augustine's run defense was locked in: Columbia could only muster 1.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Mason Beane for the heroic effort on defense: he. St. Augustine's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.2.
St. Augustine's defense didn't let Xavier Collins, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Beane, Damien Spivey, and Brandon Whitfield Jr, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Another thorn in Columbia's side was Beane, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Having lost for the first time this season, Columbia fell to 5-1. They have struggled against St. Augustine recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Columbia still got an impressive performance from Kyren Caldwell, who picked up 186 receiving yards and one score. Caldwell showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 61 yards. Collins was another key player, having thrown for 285 yards and onetouchdown.
Coming up, after each having a week off, St. Augustine and Clay will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for Columbia, they will welcome Manatee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
