Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granite Hills). They blew past the Steele Canyon Cougars 70-46 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-45 two weeks ago.

Granite Hills was led to victory by Jaylene Hughes and Kerstena Tomika. Hughes posted 25 points along with seven steals and six boards, while Tomika dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hughes has scored at least a third of Granite Hills' points. Another player making a difference was Jillian Griffith, who had six points and 11 rebounds.

Granite Hills now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Steele Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.

Granite Hills wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-44 defeat against Bishop's on the 1st. As for Steele Canyon, they will take on Grossmont at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th.
