Soccer Game Preview: Valley vs. West Campus

Valley hasn't had much luck against West Campus recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Valley Vikings will be playing at home against the West Campus Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Armijo onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Vikings were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, West Campus' good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Fairfield by a score of 2-1. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Warriors couldn't quite close it out.

Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those five contests. As for West Campus, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 11-2-3.

Valley suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to West Campus in their previous meeting back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Valley was down 4-1.
